BioactIF OSTEOTRANS

Orthopedic implants

Richard Wolf BioactIF OSTEOTRANS are bioactive, bioresorbable interference screws for graft fixation in cruciate ligament reconstruction. They are made of a composite of poly-L-lactide (PLLA) and unsintered hydroxyapatite (uHA), which Richard Wolf describes as osteoconductive; the uHA particles buffer the lactic acid produced as the PLLA degrades. The universal BK series covers tibial and femoral fixation of anterior and posterior cruciate ligament grafts (the 6 mm version also for other ligament replacements such as MPFL), and the OK series is intended for bone-tendon and bone-tendon-bone grafts. Richard Wolf (Knittlingen, Germany) develops and manufactures endoscopic instruments and systems and describes minimally invasive surgery as its core competence for more than a hundred years.
