SMI

SURGICRYL® PGA

Sutures & wound closure

SURGICRYL® PGA is a synthetic absorbable braided multifilament suture of polyglycolic acid, coated with polycaprolactone and calcium stearate, violet or undyed, manufactured by SMI. It is absorbed by hydrolysis, completely in about 60 to 90 days, and about 50% of tensile strength remains after 21 days. SMI indicates it for general soft-tissue approximation and/or ligation. SMI lists cardiovascular surgery and neurosurgery as contraindications. It is supplied 12 sutures per box in the sizes, needles and lengths of the SMI catalogue; contact Meditech for the size chart and current availability. SMI's EC certificate for sterile surgical sutures (notified body 0653), maintained under the EU MDR transitional provisions, lists this suture brand. SMI AG (St. Vith, Belgium) has manufactured surgical sutures since 1987 and exports to 120 countries. Meditech supplies the SMI range in Armenia.
